On Sunday evening, 14th September 1884, a number of boys were playing at a mill at the Largy, near Portglenone, when a sad accident occurred, by which a boy named Magill lost his life.
September 1884, Fatal Accident, Largy, Portglenone

It appears that the boys had a habit of amusing themselves by turning the mill-wheel and Magill, more venturesome than the others, got on the top of the wheel, but lost his balance, and, falling over between the wall and the wheel, was instantly crushed to death.
